Shawn Colvin

From her flaming red hair to her haunting vocals, Shawn Colvin was one of the ’90’s most memorable figures. She has been a solo artist for decades and her success in the industry is extraordinary. Her 1997 single Sunny Came Home won her a Grammy, but it wouldn’t be the last accolade the artist would receive. Before hitting it big, Colvin used to busk and earned $30 for every 45-minute set. Not exactly the best way to earn investment money, but it helped her gain a local following.

Her rise to the top may not have been a smooth one, but after signing with Columbia Records and releasing her debut album Steady On in 1989, success was inevitable. Since then, she has had a string of successful hits and in 2019, Colvin was inducted into the Austin City Limits Hall of Fame. Colvin had been married twice — the first was in 1993 with Simon Tassano (they divorced in 1995), and the second was in 1997, with photographer Mario Erwin.
