Sade

Helen Folasade Adu, known professionally as Sade, is one of the industry’s most unique vocalists. In the beginning, to avoid student loans, she worked as a backup singer for the band Pride. It was during her solo performance of the song Smooth Operator that she caught the attention of record company executives. Eventually, she formed her own band called Eponymous and released the songs No Ordinary Love and Soldier of Love.

The band went on hiatus in 2000 and 2010, but Sade continued working on music. In 2018, the band made a comeback and released Flower of the Universe, which became the soundtrack of the Disney film A Wrinkle in Time. In 2017, the 61-year-old singer and songwriter were appointed a CBE for her services to music. Certainly, there is no doubt that Sade is one of the most famous British female artists in the long history of music.
