PJ Harvey

PJ Harvey is one of the most popular icons of the 90s. She made a name for herself, not just as a musical artist, but also as a multi-instrumentalist. Harvey’s career began after she joined Automatic Dlamini, a local band fronted by John Parish. Harvey and Parish would eventually become long-term collaborators. Contrary to what most people think, the band PJ Harvey isn’t just one person.

The trio was formed in 1991 and released two albums, Dry and Rid of Me before they eventually disbanded. Throughout the years, Harvey has received numerous accolades both for her collaborations and as a solo artist. To her credit, three of her albums were included in Rolling Stone’s list of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time. Harvey is the only artist to have been awarded Mercury Prize twice. She contributed to the music industry a lot and this is why she was awarded the Outstanding Contribution To Music Award at the NME Awards and MBE.
