Roxette
Roxette is the name of the Swedish pop-rock duo made up of Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle. They were formed in 1986 and were active throughout the 1980s, all the way to the 1990s. With credit to their second album, Look Sharp, the group managed to break into the international scene. They released their third album, Joyride, in 1991 and found equal success. They are Sweden’s second best-selling musical performers after ABBA.
Throughout their career, the duo enjoyed many chart-toppers and have always managed to enter the Top 40 U.K. Hits. They gained fame across the United States as well, thanks to their catchy songs and amazing lyricism. Some of their music was also featured as part of the soundtrack for the films, Joyride and Pretty Woman. Roxette sold an estimate of 75 million albums across the world with over 10 million certified units from UK, Germany, and the US. Their legacy is certainly one to be remembered.
