Alanis Morissette
Alanis Morissette was only six years old when she began playing piano, and at seven years old, she took dance classes to improve her skills. She might be well-known for her angry songs, but Alanis Morisette’s legacy as a musician is anything but painful. She started out in the early 1990s, breaking into the pop-rock and alternative scene with her mezzo-soprano voice and intense lyricism. During the earlier part of her career, she experienced a moderate degree of success.
It wasn’t until the release of Jagged Little Pill that Morisette found mainstream fame. Morissette was dubbed the “Queen of Alt-Rock Angst” by Rolling Stone. Since then, she has released multiple chart-toppers and sold over 33 million copies of her albums worldwide. Her rock sound has been cited by many younger musicians as the inspiration for their own work, proving just how influential an artist she is. Morisette remains active to this day and has recently released two new songs, Her and Ablaze.
