Lana Del Rey

Lana Del Rey is Elizabeth Woolridge Grant’s stage name and one that has built quite a fan base ever since she dropped her debut album in 2010. Interestingly, she didn’t aspire to be a singer back then as she was busy earning her metaphysics degree at the Fordham University. However, in her free time, she performed in local nightclubs as Sparkle Rope Jump Queen and Lizzy Grant. She first took the stage as Lizzy Grant, but the reception was lukewarm. Years later, she re-emerged with her current stage name, Lana Del Rey, which propelled her career forward.

Her career may have skyrocketed with her second album Born to Die, but her music is often met with controversies and criticisms. The singer has often acknowledged the lines she has used in her songs can be a trigger for some, which is also one of the reasons why she has endeared herself to many. Like with other musicians who wrote about their emotions, Del Rey Ray has banked on her emotions as her source for songwriting.
