Nina Dobrev & Ian Somerhalder

The Vampire Diaries stars, Nina Dobrev and Ian Somerhalder both had a lot of chemistry on screen as they played Elena Gilbert and Damon Salvatore, respectively. When the couple announced that they were dating for real, all fans of the show and the rest of the public were ecstatic. They got together in 2011 but broke up in 2013.

Age was one of the things that were pointed out to have probably caused their untimely breakup. When the pair split, Nina was only 24 years old while Ian was 34. Ian already wanted to get married, build a life, have kids, and make investments together. As Nina was still pretty young, she didn’t feel ready for it yet. It was even confirmed more in Ian’s next relationship when he proposed to Nikki Reed only six months after dating her.
